The Spooky Spectrum of Hauntings

Understanding the Different Types of Hauntings

Before you go into your first investigation it’s important that you know some of the things you might encounter. Here is a good place to start; what are the types of hauntings. You’ve heard these words in different ghost hunting shows I’m sure, hopefully I can help give a more straightforward definition for some of these:

Residual Haunting: In this type of haunting, there is no conscious entity or spirit involved. Instead, haunting is caused by the residual energy or emotion that has been imprinted on a location or object.

Intelligent Haunting: This type of haunting involves the presence of a conscious entity or spirit. These entities can communicate with the living through various means, such as moving objects, creating sounds, or appearing as apparitions.

Poltergeist Activity: Poltergeist activity is a type of haunting that involves the movement of physical objects, such as doors opening and closing, or objects being thrown. This type of activity is often associated with teenagers or individuals experiencing emotional distress.

Demonic Haunting: Demonic haunting is believed to be caused by an evil entity or demon. The activity associated with this type of haunting is often aggressive and can include physical attacks on those who are present.

Shadow People: Shadow people are dark, human-shaped figures that are often seen moving around or standing still in a location. The appearance of shadow people is often associated with feelings of fear or dread.

Apparitions: Apparitions are typically visual manifestations of ghosts or spirits. They can take on various forms, from misty figures to solid-looking human shapes.

It’s important to note that these classifications are not always clear-cut, and different hauntings can exhibit a combination of different types of phenomena.

Hope you learned a few things! Have a great Friday and I’ll see you again soon.

About Me

My name is Joanna.

I’ve always been drawn to stories that don’t quite make sense. The ones that leave questions behind. The ones that feel unfinished.

That curiosity eventually led me into the strange, messy, and fascinating world of paranormal investigation.

“Paranormal” is really just a catch-all term for things we don’t fully understand yet. The unexplained, the mystical, the spiritual, and all the arcana in between. It’s less about proving something is real and more about asking better questions.

Do I believe in ghosts? Maybe.

Do I think aliens are among us? Also maybe. (Have you seen those military UFO videos?)

What I do know is this: sometimes history itself is unsettling enough.
